Briefing:
Dirty Habits is a skateboard company and clothing line based on North California.

target:
surf/skateboard community, fans of brands such as Element, Wave, Quicksilver, 925ever (...)

concept line:
To create an iconic symbol that represents a mix of urban streetwear, tikki tribal and adventure feeling. It must stand for a way of thinking and act on people's minds.

Process:
After watching some of the references provided I sketched a few ideas. Then I came up with this dude and I thought it might work since it's pretty and it could be surfing, skating, whatever he represents, action, vibe and flow are the big keywords.

[small confession:]
Since I'm not a big skate/urban lifestyle connoisseur, I had to do a lot of research. I didn't sketch much because I really felt that this drawing (actually it was my 1st of 3 ideas) could go in the right direction.

IMHO this is one of my best logos so far, I really like it.
I wish all the luck in the world to Dirtyhabits.

I don't know if you have done work with them or not? I have reported them to Elance, and hopefully they will take action. But I strongly urge you to contact Elance and have them close this contractors (LOGO DEZINES) profile down, if they do not have your permission to use your work!
