***EDIT (3rd March)***
A small conversation.. I discovered his msn on Mingleville.. funny he didn't know who I was.
Here's the log:
gareth says: hi, who r u?
JoãoF says: I'm arpad from Deviant Art, I'm sure you know who I am
gareth says: no sorry
JoãoF says: no? let me refresh your memory, your work was featured on the last Computer Arts Projects, right? Garrick Webster, the clip logo, the undo logo... ring a bell?
gareth says: Many apologies, i had put together a blog for the purpose of a college study. All of which has subsequently been removed.
JoãoF says: bullshit, a college study? man, you've got a lot of nerve
My lawyer will contact you
gareth says: Many apologies, but i will tell any layer what i have told you. Examples of the college project can be provided as proof, also the the fact that the website has now been removed preminatly
JoãoF says: listen Gareth, you may say what you want, the facts are you published my work as your own, on Computer Arts projects, and it wasn't a college project, period.
gareth says: Many apologies, no doubt the magazine will give you the recognition you deserve
JoãoF says: I've got the screenshots of your website, this is serious business, you screwed up
gareth says: Many apologies again
JoãoF says: you don't ask for apologies, you avoid them, I wonder if all the works are ripped too
so, this conversation is over.. You'll be sued and I will make sure you pay for this. Even this conversation is a proof against you... He obviously went offline, funny heh?

***EDIT (27th Feb)***
Found the bastard!-----------
Hello,
My name is João Franco and I am a Portuguese graphics designer. I bought the latest Computer Arts Projects edition last Friday (Feb. 15th) and I was excited about the title cover: Branding & logo design. As you all might've figured out by now, I am a huge fan of identity design, so I do what I must to satisfy my appetite for logos.
Let me get straight to the point: On page 11 (pictured below) of said publication, the featured designer is
Gareth Howells a.k.a. Opticalpleasure. When I opened that page, I found something that freaked me out. This guy published a few logos as his own but actuality, one is a carbon copy of a logo of mine and the other one is a modified version of another project I did. As I was browsing through his website, I found a third (also a carbon copy) called Undo. I have reported Computer Arts about this situation and Garrick Webster (Computer Arts Projects editor) replied saying that they printed Gareth's feature in good faith, as they always do. I kept in touch with Garrick for a couple of days and he told me that he would try to get in touch with Gareth. Oddly enough, the next day, Gareth's website went offline. Check for
yourselves. He seems to have disappeared.
This is Computer Arts Project February edition's page 11

And this is Gareth's homepage: (print screened on Monday, Feb. the 18th)
This is where he got "his" logos from: Undo is in the 3rd row, 1st on the right hand side, CLIP is in the 9th row 3rd from the left and the modified version is in the 4th row 4th from the left. As you can see, the publish date on Deviant Art is May 23, 2007. My works are protected under a
Creative Commons License.I'm already in contact with my lawyer and I intend to do whatever it takes, but I would certainly appreciate your input on this matter as some of you probably had this happening before. If Gareth remains to be unreachable, I will expose this throughout forums and other graphic design realms. Like Garrick said, "
Gareth's name is going down" because they will publish my letter detailing this situation on their next edition.
Best regards,
João Franco
